Role summary and purpose:
Proactively contribute to developing client partnerships and growing new business opportunities for the Law School, particularly in relation to SQE programmes and the growth of legal and non-legal apprenticeships.
The overall aim is to grow the value of the client revenue by winning new clients and facilitating the cross-selling opportunities of other BPP products and programmes to existing Law School employer partners.
Key responsibilities:
Working in collaboration with the other Head of Client Development, the Commercial Director (Apprenticeships), the Director of Programmes (Professional Development) and other stakeholders across BPP, the role holder will:
- Adopt a consultative approach to client partner conversations to understand their strategy for recruiting, developing and retaining their early talent pipelines and identify appropriate solutions
- Develop relationships within existing client partners to identify and leverage new business opportunities
- Collaborate on opportunities to grow the client base and build relationships in target/prospective firms
- Support social mobility and EDI initiatives within BPP and identify opportunities to involve client partners in those initiatives
- Ensure all client activity is up to date and shared with internal stakeholders
- Assist with the drafting of appropriate and detailed tender documentation, liaising with BPP’s Bids team as required, to deliver highly professional assets
- When required, assist with any presentations for new client business (to include preparing visual aids and other supporting assets)
- Promote, support and attend local networking activities
- Support BPP values
- Remain up to date with BPP Law School programmes, products and services.
Skills, experience & qualifications required - Essential
• Detailed knowledge of the UK Legal Education sector particularly the SQE and Legal Apprenticeship pathways
• Substantial experience of working with legal employers in a higher education setting including experience of programme or module design and delivery as well as client relationship management
• Proven management and leadership in a regulated higher education setting with an ability to motivate, develop and inspire others within a challenging environment
• Ability to manage client partnership challenges including handling difficult client conversations and managing any conflicts or complaints with a ‘can do’ problem solving approach
• Experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting management information data.
Skills, experience & qualifications required – Desirable
• Qualified solicitor or barrister
• Knowledge of BPP Law School’s range of programmes across the postgraduate and apprenticeship pathways
