As such, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning Support Manager with a strong background in supporting individuals with disabilities and complex needs across a diverse range of ages and demographics to join our team.
This opportunity is available as a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, and will involve managing complex cases, acting as an escalation point for issues or complaints, and ensuring high-quality support is delivered. You will also line manage a team of Disability Advisors and an Administrator, providing leadership, oversight and ensuring overall operational efficiency.

What you’ll be doing
In this role you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Student Welfare and Support in the operational success of the Student Support and Welfare department across its range of activities.
As such, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a team of Disability Advisors and an Administrator who respond and manage Learning Support referrals
- Overseeing all Learning Support interventions (reasonable adjustments) ensuring they are timely, effective and appropriate to individual entitlements
- Interviewing and assessing students to identify appropriate reasonable adjustments in accordance with our policies, learning and teaching and external funding mechanisms
- Ensuring all student’s records are accurately updated and maintained and that evidence complies with audit requirements
- Overseeing the rolling out of learning support processes to the schools and ensuring confidence and competence in this
- Identifying and promoting Learning Support strategies and service improvements
- Providing accurate statistical reports to the Head of Student Welfare and Support and other teams
- Collaborating with external stakeholders and other teams at BPP to ensure reasonable adjustments and inclusive practices are integrated appropriately
- Supporting the work of Group Education Services, as directed by the Dean, performing from time other such duties that may be consistent with the post
What we’re looking for
To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:
- Relevant professional qualification at degree level
- Experience of people management/leading a team
- Substantial experience of working with individuals with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of referral pathways for vulnerable learners and an awareness of relevant government legislation
- A detailed understanding of implementing reasonable adjustments in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
- Self-reflective with an ability to be emotionally intelligent and responding to complex issues with sensitivity and confidentiality
- Experience of working in a multi-agency team approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships, partnerships and referral routes with key internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Experience of understanding, analysing and presenting data related to metrics
- IT literate, with strong competency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel
