 The Library Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of library and information services at BPP’s London learning centres, ensuring high-quality support for students and staff.

What you’ll be doing

 

 

The Library Manager will manage the daily operations of library and information services across BPP’s London learning centres, ensuring excellent support for both students and staff.

 

As such, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Provide managerial guidance and support to the library team in the day-to-day management of the library & information services at BPP’s learning centres in London including maintaining the collections, managing the study space and providing other library academic liaison services;
  • Recruit, supervise, appraise and train staff, including line management
  • Help and advise staff and students in making effective use of printed and online information sources
  • Design and deliver inductions, face-to-face and online training programmes (small group sessions and lectures). Train other members of staff to be able to deliver the programmes where appropriate
  • Liaise with teaching, IT, administration and operations teams to ensure an optimal student experience, including liaison with partner organizations to whom we deliver Nursing Degree Apprenticeships
  • Develop and maintain performance monitoring systems and quality assurance procedures including maintaining weekly library services statistics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships through relevant professional networks such as CILIP: the Library and Information Association

 

 

 

What experience you’ll need

 

  • Educated to degree-level; a professional qualification in library/information science
  • High levels of IT literacy including Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in staff supervision or management
  • An enthusiasm for developing and delivering an outstanding service
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication skills; able to produce clear and concise written and oral reports; able to present to and engage a student audience
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Proven project management skills; able to set your own goals in addition to achieving given targets and deadlines
