We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dynamic and strategic individual to join the Law School to lead the Oral Skills module (conferencing skills and witness handling) on our Barrister Training Course.

You will ensure our teaching and assessment materials are innovative, rigorous, and aligned with regulatory standards—making a real impact on legal education.
What you’ll be doing
As Module Leader for Oral Skills, you will work with the Heads of Curriculum & Development, Award Leaders and other Module Leaders within a supportive team to:
- Lead curriculum excellence by updating and enhancing oral skills teaching and assessment materials to maintain their high quality
- Drive quality by analysing and monitoring student performance, reviewing feedback and implementing quality module improvements
- Support faculty & students by assisting with module tutor training and leading the module teaching team to ensure faculty are trained and supported to deliver the module
- Oversee assessments to ensure fairness, rigour and compliance in assessment design, marking, moderation and feedback.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking a confident and strategic professional who has:
- Qualified as a barrister or as a Solicitor with Higher Rights
- A first degree
- A teaching qualification or Fellowship of the HEA or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of the Higher Education and the importance of student outcomes
- Experience in curriculum design, assessment and quality assurance
- Proven ability to lead a team, manage projects and inspire others
- Experience in Oral skills teaching and assessment would be desirable
How will this process work?
The interview process for this position will consist of the following stages:
- Competency style interview with two team members – 60 minutes
