Management Accountant

Support the Head of Apprenticeship Accounting with the production of monthly actuals, forecasting and analysis within the apprenticeship division of BPP and its subsidiaries – namely Buttercups Training and Estio Training, plus potential future acquisitions. This will include providing assistance and financial analysis that will support business decision making by BPP’s executive team. This area of the business is growing and dynamic, creation of and updates/improvements to processes will be encouraged, there will be autonomy in this role with the opportunity to make it your own.

 

The group’s apprenticeship division is a key growth area for the company generating c£90m turnover, it is comprised of several business units/schools with courses ranging across Accountancy, Technology & Pharmaceutical.

What you’ll be doing

  • Preparation of month end accounts including the computation and posting of accruals and deferrals, in line with BPP and statutory accounting policies.
  • Produce detailed variance analysis against prior year, budget and forecast.
  • Assist with the reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual results with review and analysis of trends.
  • Assist with the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts for cost and revenue, including prep for TM1 uploads.
  • Complete audit quality and compliance documentation supporting the month end postings.
  • Assist with preparation and review of supporting documentation for financial audit.
  • Assist with preparation and review of financial reporting to the Department for Education.
  • Liaise with auditors and other compliance officers as and when required.
  • Assistance with the continual development of revenue and cost reporting models.
  • Maintain documentation in line with Government funding rules.
  • Periodic reporting of financial and non-financial information to various areas of the business.
  • Work effectively with other members of the Finance Team to ensure successful delivery of all aspects of its work

 

What experience you’ll need

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified, recently qualified or finalist
  • Good understanding of Advanced MS Excel
  • Strong time management skills: ability to prioritise workload, work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially strong with analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work self-sufficiently, problem solve and identify opportunities to add value above and beyond existing process
  • Analytical skills 
  • Positive attitude and motivated by continuous improvement and high-quality output
  • Knowledgeable user of financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX and TM1 (desirable).
