Here at BPP Education Group, we have a dedicated Planning and Scheduling team who work to ensure the efficient and effective operation of a centralised scheduling process. This includes termly teaching schedules and wider BPP events, ensuring they are appropriately scheduled in line with the requirements set and within the agreed timescales.  
 
As such, we are looking for an experienced people manager with scheduling experience within a Higher Education environment, who is passionate about leading, developing, and supporting teams.

 

This role is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, where you will focus on building a positive team culture and enabling individuals to grow and perform at their best. You will play a key role in coaching and developing the team, identifying opportunities for improvement and creating an environment where people feel supported, motivated, and empowered to succeed.

 

You will be a proactive and confident communicator with strong operational awareness and the ability to balance people leadership with effective schedule delivery. The role requires someone who can delegate effectively, guide their team through challenges, and continuously look for ways to improve processes and team performance.

What you’ll be doing 

In this role you will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a centralised scheduling process across BPP, continually reviewing and developing the methodology involved.

You will manage, motivate, and develop the Scheduling team to always deliver a high-quality service.

As such, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing, documenting and reviewing scheduling policies and processes to ensure effective use of systems and resources
  • Managing the production and maintenance of teaching schedules, ensuring deadlines and service levels are met
  • Liaising with and maintaining strong professional relationships with key stakeholders to understand scheduling needs and resolve any timetable issues
  • Overseeing and supporting the Scheduling Team, delegating work and ensuring appropriate staffing throughout the year
  • Providing leadership, coaching and training to develop team capability and enhance overall performance
  • Ensuring specialist scheduling software is used effectively to maximise efficiency
  • Overseeing schedule updates, responding to enquiries, and managing ad hoc room bookings to optimise space utilisation
  • Deputising for the Head of Group Scheduling in respect of Scheduling issues where necessary

 

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Excellent people-management skills, and the ability to train and lead a team into delivering successful results
  • Experience of working in a professional academic support setting to deliver timetabling/scheduling services at a high level
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written are essential
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to review & organize both their priorities and the priorities of others
  • Drive, creativity and ownership are key traits with ability to work on one’s own initiative and be responsible for projects   
  • Resilient with an ability to prioritise an extensive, changing and diverse workload
  • Flexibility and decisiveness to delegate where necessary to ensure agile timelines are met
  • Excellent IT Skills, MS Office, Advanced Excel, knowledge of scheduling systems, e.g. Scientia
