Job Background and Purpose
About the Social Impact Team.
BPP Social Impact designs and delivers projects that enable students and learners to develop new skills and gain new experiences, while giving back to the local community. Each year, the team enables hundreds of BPP students and learners to benefit from pro bono and volunteering opportunities that support both personal and professional development, while making a difference to people in need across the country.
The Social Impact team’s key aims are:
- To deliver legal and other professional services that directly support individuals who cannot access paid for advice services.
- To educate and inform the wider public about law, business, tech and health issues.
- To provide practical opportunities and experiences that will ensure BPP students and learners possess the skills that are in demand.
- To deliver programmes and facilitate pathways for individuals from diverse and/or lower socio-economic backgrounds to access professional careers.
The Social Impact Coordinator role is key to the coordination and administration of Social Impact activity across centres and is the first point of contact for internal and external queries and is the go-to for technical and administrative support across the Social Impact team. The role would also assist with delivery of flagship projects that support the student/learner experience, maintain key client relationships and contribute to the social value added by BPP to the community each year.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to student volunteer recruitment, training and engagement, this particular role oversees:
- Employment Law for London (‘ELF’), a flagship Social Impact project. Working in collaboration with lawyers in practice (many from client firms), the ELF project provides volunteering opportunities for on average 60 students per month. This year the project will work with Business School PDP students to undertake the client facing elements of the role, calling clients from BPP Centres and using case management systems to prepare a chronology of the clients’ issues to pass on to the adviser to assist.
- Line management of PDP Management students on social impact placements for client facing work experience.
- Social Impact project coordination setting up procedures to streamline projects -To act as a first point of contact for new clients, answering queries via email and telephone, and to provide referrals to clients with queries outside of scope.
- The Social Impact Inbox, fielding enquiries and dealing with issues raised by the 1,500 students/learners working with the Social Impact team across the academic year
- The Social Impact platform on BPP Futures, including all updating, reporting on engagement and communication with student volunteers
- Data lead on reporting monthly on social impact
- Ad hoc project work, as delegated by the Social Impact Managers and/or Head of Social Impact or that align with your own interests around social impact and sustainability.
- Administrative support to the Clinic and Public Education teams, including support in arranging appointments, correspondence, and administer our case management system, CLIO.
- To undertake any other duties related to the post.
Please note that the role will require some occasional travel to other BPP centres and some evening work when required.
