Job Introduction

Job Summary

This role is part of the new structure in the School of Healthcare and Nursing which has been developed to ensure that the anticipated growth can be effectively managed and resourced in line with short, medium and long-term plans. It will form part of a team of inter-professional leaders to build upon their personal and team leadership and change agent capabilities.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

· Overall accountability for the success of the recruitment, retention and development of SoHN staff aligned to the People KPI’s

· Lead the school Operations team, overseeing school implementation plans and projects, including intake forecasting

· Compliance with regulatory requirements

· Responsible for the overall student experience whilst on programme, including the International, student experience and ensuring UKVI compliance

· Line Management of the School Operations and People Team Senior Managers (Faculty Managers and Head of Coaches)

· Management of the Annual School Delivery Plan, ensuring the deployment schedule and academic calendars are in line with commercial targets and cohort start

· Management of annual staffing and resourcing plan ensuring recruitment is planned to meet demand across the programme portfolios

· Accountable for ensuring live student data is accurate, up to date to ensure cohort tracking, to support effective resource planning and managing the provision of data to all internal stakeholders via the development and maintenance of dashboards in PowerBI

· Oversight of all policies relating to people and HR within the School

· Management of work allocation models and the use of systems such as Retain

· Relationship with HR function

· Oversight of key relationships with central teams (e.g. PLASCH, property, customer experience) to ensure that the SoHN Portfolio can be effectively deployed

· Financial oversight of staffing cost drivers and impact on student experience and programme margin. Responsible for consulting with BPP’s FP&A and finance teams in the creation of rolling financial forecasts

· Culture and staff well-being lead

· Oversight of SoHN conferences and development activities

Skills, experience & qualifications required – Essential

• First degree and/or substantial experience of running large scale administrative operations

• Proven management and leadership in higher education

• Knowledge of the UK Higher Education sector

• Experience of analysing data and implementing actions

• Experience of working with international students

• Experience with finance, forecasting and budgets

• Experience of intake forecasting

• Experience of working at a strategic level

• Knowledge and experience of project management techniques

• Experience of responding to situations which require realignment of resources and stepping in to help as required.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to delegate and set realistic targets for team members

• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, challenge and inspire people

• Proactive ‘can do’ attitude and leads by example

• Able to manage workload

• Able to deal with difficult/sensitive issues

• Able to manage people and resolve conflicts

• Understanding of the complexity of working in regulated education

• Ability to converse with strategic stakeholders both internally and externally.

Skills, experience & qualifications required - Desirable

• Level 7 qualification (or working towards)

• Power BI expertise

• Proven experience of achieving outcomes within a matrix structure

• Understanding of the role of customer experience within an HE setting
